Outreach

Paul Daugherty (MA '93), in green shirt, uses role-playing participants to demonstrate how to set up video shots during a July JMC free outreach workshop on obtaining and delivering Web information at Mesa State College in Grand Junction. Among the 45 who attended was Carrie Marfitano ('07), bottom left, The Daily Sentinel copy editor

The program directs the George Orbanek Journalism Workshop, which is an outreach program that takes place five times annually in towns and cities in every corner of the state. Local journalists, teachers and citizens are taught skills for negotiating the invisible Web.

The JMC program coordinates the Al Nakkula Award for Police Reporting, the only national award of its kind.
