The Hearst Professional-in-Residence program provides fellowships for veterans of the print and broadcast media to visit CU-Boulder each semester and provide helpful lessons and advice to students and faculty. Its purpose is to introduce nationally known, accomplished journalists to our students to enrich their journalism studies.
The program is funded by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation.

Focus: The Truth About Freelancing
In seven years as a full-time freelance journalist, the profession has taken Dion Rabouin to Los Angeles, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Medellin, Accra and cities around the world. As a writer, photographer, editor and reporter he’s worked for outlets from the Torrance Daily Breeze to ESPN, from the Beaumont Enterprise to International Business Times and from The Atlanta Voice to The Hollywood Reporter. He’s experienced some of the highest highs and lowest lows the world of freelancing has to offer and he’s here to share his experience and offer some insight on what he’s learned along the way.
