Student AWC members network in NYC

Womens group seeks to build career ties

Student members of The Association for Women in Communications traveled to New York during winter break for their annual networking trip.

The organization aims to recognize the advancement of women in communication while promoting leadership and networking skills. AWC focuses primarily on networking in the Boulder/Denver area but the group also takes a networking trip to another major U.S. city every year.

This year, a group of seven women spent a week in New York meeting with a range of professions in the journalism and advertising fields. The group visited Glamour magazine and attended a taping of the Katie Couric Show, among other stops.

The trips are funding by CU Journalism & Mass Communication the funding arm of CU’s student government, the Student Organizations Funding Office.

AWC is dedicated to the field of journalism and communications, working to branch out and discover possible careers in this particular field.

The group meets several times a month and anyone interested in this field of study is welcome to submit an application.
