Jill Tucker (MA ’97), education reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, wrote a Dec. 4 story on the rising number of homeless children who come to school cold, hungry and sleepy.  As a result of the story, a San Francisco couple donated $1.5 million for housing. It was matched by the city, and now as many as 200 families spending their nights in city shelters, sleeping in cars or on the streets will be moved into public or subsidized housing.
